CORPORATE EVENTS

Although directors John and Katie Plews are no longer running the day to day business they are still very much involved in corporate events and available for consultancy on all aspects of event management.

CORPORATE AWARDS

At the prestigious IVCA Awards (for Corporate Video and Business Events) held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on 26th March 2004, Ovation won the Gold Award in the Live Events category.

This is the fifth award Ovation has won and the third Gold. The 2004 award was in recognition for the Yorkshire Building Society road show “Banging The Drum”, a six date event staged for the two thousand employees of the Society.

In the words of the Chief Executive Iain Cornish “I have heard nothing but positive feedback from everyone I have spoken to, indeed the consensus seems to be that this year’s road shows have been the best so far.  My own view is we undoubtedly achieved our aims of getting across the purpose, values and vision of the Society, in the context of a very upbeat, motivational and fun occasion”.

The IVCA judges citation read:  A highly absorbing event, rich in audience participation delivered and executed in the most lively and compelling way.

PREVIOUS AWARDS

At the 2002 IVCA Awards on 22nd March at Grosvenor House, Ovation were awarded both Silver and Bronze in the Live Events category.

Bronze Award for the Royal & SunAlliance presentation – “Cooking in a 1% World”. Judges Citation: The human face of a pension provider was provided through the production company’s clear understanding of the target audience and their use of an informal combination of factual information, entertainment and interaction to communicate a concise message.

Silver Award for the Yorkshire Building Society Roadshow – “With You One Hundred Per Cent”. Judges Citation: An inspired mix of a wide variety of interactivity, information and entertainment helped to create atmosphere and excitement company-wide for this project and an excellent understanding of the clients’ objectives and staff demographic was displayed.

In 2000, Ovation beat off stiff competition to win a Gold Award at the IVCA Millennium Awards Ceremony. Winner of Internal Live Events category, the Award was made for a satellite-linked event produced on behalf of the Yorkshire Building Society (YBS).

John Plews said “We are delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Gold Award by the IVCA for our work with YBS. This was a challenging project that demanded complex technology, innovative creativity and a significant amount of organisation and management. It is a fantastic feeling to have our achievement acknowledged by the industry with an IVCA Gold Award.

Ovation’s challenge was to create an opportunity for the Building Society’s CEO to talk personally and interactively with 1,800 people, whilst creating an exciting and friendly atmosphere that would motivate and enthuse staff, without being over business-like. The event was themed around the concept of a TV station, YBSTV, which would broadcast news (the CEO’s address), undertake an audience opinion poll and finally, entertain the audience with a game show. The hub site in Bradford was satellite linked to five other venues across the UK where the YBS staff had been gathered.
David Holmes, Corporate Affairs Manager at YBS, who commissioned the project with Group Marketing and Communications Manager, Linda Will, said “The award is well deserved. This was a substantial project, but Ovation delivered a solution that not only met our objectives and targets, but exceeded our expectations”. The judges’ citation stated that Ovation’s entry was “…an event which combined both business management and sheer entertainment. A brilliant mix of satellite link-up and theatre, excellently stage managed and pitched at exactly the right level. A unanimous winner”.

Ovation then went on to win the Gold for Best Live Event at the Marketing Events Awards.
